7 Steps to Delete a Linkedin Profile — Illustrated with Annotated Screen Shots made using Jing
Step #1: Log on. Log onto the profile you want to delete.
Step #2: Click on “Close Your Account” — a new setting menu window opens
Step #3: Explain Why You’re Closing Account. Click the Radial Dial for the best explanation of why you’re closing the account (e.g. “I have a duplicate account”
Step #5: Preserve Profile Value. The Verify Screen gives you another chance to make sure you’ve captured all the value you can from the profile:
- Are the connections on this profile also on the Linkedin profile you intend to keep? If not, make a list of names you’ll ask to now connect to the other profile.
- Are there recommendations that will be lost? If so, copy, print or take a screen shot of them. When you ask those people to submit new recommendations on the LInkedin profile you’re keeping, you’ll be able to send along a copy of what was written before, along with the explanation of why you’re asking for a re-do. Your endorsers will appreciate it.
Step #6: Verfiy. Are you sure you have everything off the profile you’ll ever need? If so, click “Verify.”
Step #7 — the Last Step: Last chance… ready? Click “Close Account.”
