30 second quiz: Does your Linkedin Summary have the answers?

Linkedin Logo

I’ve seen it before — an amazing Linkedin profile, complete with lots of connections, amazing recommendations and extensive (and detailed) experience. But then… no Summary Section.

Or there’s a Summary Section but it’s a repeat of the other information on the profile. Like someone has played cut-and-paste with their resume.

Long or short. Filled with stories or just bullet points. Either way, the Summary Section has a job to do, and that job is to answer 2 questions:

Question #1

If I find your Linkedin Profile through a keyword search
of the Linkedin Database or a referral from a connection,
the profile needs to answer:

Is this the right person for me?

Question #2

For anyone in my own network,
the profile needs to answer:

What or who is a good referral
for this person,
how can I help them?

Not sure if your Linkedin profile is doing the job? Put it to the test — ask someone else to read it. Can they answer the two questions? Do their answers match yours?

There are over 50 million profiles currently on Linkedin.

Let yours work for you by letting your Summary Section do its job.

The hardest part? Answering the two questions for yourself.
